Job Description

DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer at Project Kuiper, you will be directly responsible for testing, qualifying and troubleshooting integrated satellites for the Kuiper broadband internet network. You will utilize innovative solutions and leading-edge technology to solve difficult manufacturing and engineering problems on a daily basis, at both a systems and specialized level. You will be a critical lynchpin between the engineering, operations, tooling, supply chain and quality teams, and help lead production on the assembly line as well as new production introduction. You will provide vital manufacturability input to the design engineering teams for both new and existing hardware. Finally, you will be responsible for standing up new processes, equipment, and assembly lines to support Kuiper’s rapid build ramp, making data-driven decisions at each step in the process.

Key job responsibilities
• Plan, develop, document and execute test operations to validate satellite systems for flight to meet Kuiper production build rates.
• Bring-up, test and troubleshoot integrated satellite assemblies
• Lead acceptance and qualification test (environmental, functional and performance) campaigns for development satellite system designs.
• Analyze test failures to ensure defects are fully understood and provide design recommendations for the product to increase performance, reliability, and yield.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and RF performance problems on the fly, working with an integrated cross-functional team of electrical, mechanical, software and manufacturing engineers.
• Specify, procure and set up test cell layouts for the production floor.
• Write technical specifications for system assembly and test from scratch.
• Must be willing to work off shifts and weekends as required.
