Space Planner & Drafter (Century City, CA)

Boutique commercial real estate management company based in Century City is seeking a Space Planner Drafter with a minimum of 5 years experience in light gauge steel construction documents. This is a full-time position that will be located in Century City.

The candidate must have strong analytical skills, be highly organized, have a proven ability to prioritize, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, have excellent follow-through, be a quick learner and be highly motivated and reliable.

The candidate will interface directly with the company’s executives, tenants, outside vendors, and over see our small construction team and projects. 

  Duties & Responsibilities:

• Able to prepare computer-generated plans and detailed drawings, and construction documents.

• Recognition of building codes and typical project compliance, title 24, and life safety issues.

• Works closely with Project Manager in order to provide finalized plans to use for bidding process.

• Field questions from contractors on areas of the project they have participated or led and coordinates with contractor on field installation issues

• Perform physical site inspections, field verification, and to resolve site decisions as needed.

• Computer interface, PDF creation from CAD drawings for e-transmittal.

• Maintain accuracy of drawings to meet design objectives and reflect field conditions.

• Provide and transmit information to drawings upon request from Engineers and Project Manager.

• Organize “Kick-off” and ongoing “All Hands” meeting to implement Tenant Improvements and Tenant Build Outs.

• Provide Marketing plans to Leasing Agent for potential new and existing tenants.

• Have a basic understanding of the jobsite environment and corporate safety policies.

Skills Required:

• Minimum of 5 years industry experience.

• Architectural Background + knowledge of the construction industry. Prior drafting experience in office & medical office is a plus.

• Knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, data and plumbing systems and the associated drafting practice.

• Knowledge of light steel construction.

• This is a client facing position therefore, professional customer service oriented communication skills, people skills and problem-solving leadership is a must. Fluent English required.

• Expert in using AutoCAD, knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office

• Able to layout space plans and build a set of drawings from schematic design, design development, and construction document phases.

• Able to manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Able to prioritize tasks, work independently and as a team player, and to estimate & evaluate your time needed on a project, and to effectively communicate with the project manager.

• Ability to interact with customers to clarify construction details and format issues

• Associate Degree in Drafting or closely related technical discipline is required.

• Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail and pride
