Job Description

Ascend is a fast-growing SaaS company that automates invoice processing and payments for mid- and large enterprise customers. Our flagship product, Ascend AP, leverages AI, powerful real-time ERP integrations, and embedded payments technology to save our customers tens of millions of dollars every year. Our customers include household names like NASCAR, Panera Bread, Virgin Voyages, and PGA TOUR as well as many of the nation’s largest and most renown hospitals and health systems, financial services providers, and higher ed institutions.

Ascend is a fully remote company that offers competitive pay, exceptional benefits including unparalleled 401(k) matching, and unlimited time off. Most importantly, we offer the chance to learn, take ownership, and grow in your career the way you’ve envisioned.

What would you do at Ascend?

As a UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for crafting intuitive, scalable, and user-centric experiences across Ascend’s platform. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and cross-functional teams to create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that elevate the usability and accessibility of our applications.

This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll own the end-to-end design process — from research and ideation to iteration and delivery. You’ll play a critical part in helping us bring AI-powered capabilities to life through delightful and functional product experiences.

Your day-to-day would include:

  • Partnering with Product and Engineering to design new workflows and features from concept to delivery.
  • Creating wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and final UI designs using Figma.
  • Conducting user research and usability testing to inform and validate design decisions.
  • Maintaining and evolving a scalable design system to ensure product consistency.
  • Applying accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and UX best practices to every design.
  • Leveraging AI-assisted tools for design iteration, prototyping, and insights.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align design with business goals and technical constraints.
  • Continuously improving existing features and flows based on used feedback and data.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably in SaaS or enterprise platforms.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating clean visual design, thoughtful UX decisions, and end-to-end process.
  • Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with prototyping and design collaboration tools.
  • Experience conducting or supporting user research and usability testing.
  • Strong understanding of design systems, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
  • Ability to translate complex workflows into simple, intuitive interfaces.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for design and user analytics.
  • Experience designing for finance, ERP, or workflow automation tools. (Bonus to have)

Benefits

This is a part-time position (27.5 hours per week). Applicable benefits will be discussed during interview process.
